Nordic traceable leather
BoConcept has partnered with Denmark-based innovators Nordic SPOOR to create three bespoke leathers in a range of colours – all selected for their superior look, touch and quality.
1. Nordic quality Our selected SPOOR leather comes from Denmark and Sweden, which has the highest welfare record.
“Through our traceability system back to Danish or Swedish farms, we know that the animals have enjoyed Scandinavian animal welfare standards”, says Birgitte Holgaard Langer, Business Development Director at SPOOR.
2. Innovative tanning technology The bespoke leathers are all tanned in the latest ‘SPOOR X’ tannage - without chrome or other heavy metals. “This enables our new leather to biodegrade and compost by end of life”, says Collection and Visuals Director Ditlev-Jensen.
3. Traceability and transparency All SPOOR leather is a by-product of the food-industry. “Hides used for SPOOR leather are upcycled to high-quality leather”, says Holgaard Langer.
SPOOR leather is traceable all the way back to the animal and farm. “We never source our hides through middlemen since traceability is then lost”, says Holgaard Langer. “Once we receive the hides at our Tannery at Southern Funen in Denmark, we laser print a unique reference into the hide – connecting all the relevant data in our system.” This enables full transparency in the value chain, through data and documentation, and provides a guarantee of responsible sourcing on the leather.
